PSA: Check your bikes before riding...

PSA: Check your bike before every ride. And check it properly. I was lazy and only did a quick glance over everything before heading for the woods. While I did look at my brakes and checked that they did function properly, I did not notice that the retaining bolt for my brake pads was either loose or already missing. Fortunately for me my brake stopped working on the flowy part of I trail I know quite well, so I could stop without problems. Had I lost the brake pads in the rougher section earlier, or later in a steep section, things could have gone a lot worse.
