Liberty, Inequality, & the Preservation of the State

In 1933 there was an address given by the Pulitzer Prize winning historian and philosopher Will Durant, and any of you who have seen much of the videos I’ve published will know the admiration I hold for this great mind. He seemed to be speaking on Statesmanship and its role on maintaining the balance between Liberty and Inequality within any given state, but most notably in those that practice Democracy. I want to emphasize that what I am advocating and expounding upon here is the balance between these two things, when I express that inequality grows with liberty I am not therefore stating that liberty should be stripped away until all that remains is slavery. And what I understand by liberty is ones power to act as one pleases without governmental restriction in the form of laws and regulations. Therefore by a society which has risen to complete liberty I mean a society in which each individual and organization operates without restriction or requirement from the governing body. Feel
