What is computer role-playing? Fallout-1-on-OpenBSD edition (1/x)

Join me in revisiting the landmark cRPG Fallout from 1997 on OpenBSD via fallout1-ce. Besides showing how it plays on OpenBSD, I'm also planning to use the opportunity to wax philosophically about how this game's take on computer role-playing offers a way to engage with its world that is rather rare among games in general, even many modern so-called RPGs (that includes Fallout's own sequels).
