Spirits of the Snow: Poem+ Snowy Woods
A bit of rain early this afternoon turned to snow-- still not much for the season (we'll see overnight, but it might be done already) but still pretty and peaceful (and not very cold for the season, either: around -1C/30F which is right on average- though it's mostly been warmer, lately, this is nowhere near cold for mid-November -much lower coming for the end of the month, I think...) I adapted/excerpted a poem of mine from 2019- here's the original full version: Snow Mother has brought her her white covering to the forest and fields, Sun's afternoon rays seem lower still, viewed through snow laden branches, even against blue sky. The woods are quiet and chill, snow crystals sifting down in the shafts of gold, then orange, light, over shadows black, and the white of snow... In these liminal moments of almost winter, almost twilight, you might glimpse-- mysteries, spirits, ancient energies that move in the forest, just at the edge of human awareness..
