Bees Love Saussureas!
Okay, that was close- I had the video finished/saved when I realised I had the wrong species name on it...lol Luckily the video editor was still open and I just had to change the text there and render it again! Saussurea riederi is a plant from alpine slopes in East Asia. It has thrived (arguably a little too well... I now have to pull lots where it has spread a bit too much on the low berm I planted it on-it would probably be better in a meadow setting with other strong growers and maybe a mowed area next to it to keep it in check.. Anyway, it is *much* loved by native bees including various kinds of bumblebees and leafcutters (as have been all the Saussurea I've grown). Music: Sneaky Spelunking by Joel Cummins
