Review: A Conventional Boy by Charles Stross

Published in early 2025, "A Conventional Boy" is the latest (albeit short) entry in Charles Stross' "The Laundry Files" series which has now been running for over 20 years. In this installment we follow the adventures of Derek, wrongly arrested as a child in the 1980s, now trying to adjust to the modern world after having just escaped from the Laundry prison camp where he spent the last 3 decades. Can Derek cope with the demands of freedom and defeat an evil cult at the same time?
