Minecraft shelf trick: shelf + banner = animated fluid gauge

I've found this trick where a wall banner above a shelf will clip through the shelf, looking like an emptying and refilling fluid gauge as the banner animates. The new shelves are pretty cool. I originally saw this trick in a YouTube video, specifically Grian's Hermicraft S11 E4 where at PearlescentMoon's base it is used in the fire trucks.
