Felling a rotten Birch between a road and a house

A birch tree next to the gate. It's rotten and a previous attempt at cutting away the rot was not successful, so we got a permit to fell it (certain tree species over a certain size have rights here). Apart from being rotten, it was also leaning towards the road and in range of the house should it fall, so the job was somewhat tricky. I went with a stay rope to keep it from falling backwards onto the road, secured around the base of a large apple tree with a hand winch and a second rope to the back of our little tractor to pull it over.
