Black rhino calf frolicking at Rotterdam Zoo

This three weeks old black rhinoceros calf, born 23 December 2017, knows exactly how to make an entrance. First she couldn’t wait to leave her mother’s womb unexpectedly early. Secondly, she proves to be fearless when preceding her mother entering the outdoor enclosure. This female calf is the second black rhino calf ever to be born in a Dutch Zoo. The first one was born 57 years ago – also in Rotterdam Zoo.
