Alex Padilla, a Democrat from California, spoke with Lulu Garcia-Navarro, the host of “The Interview” at The New York Times, about how his experience being pushed to the ground and handcuffed during a Homeland Security news conference in June is representative of the Trump administration’s attitude towards Latinos and dissent. Padilla also addressed Vice President JD Vance, who called him “José” shortly after the incident went viral.
