I dive into three specific repairs: • Replacing shorted TR4 transistors (ZTX651) on Issue 2 boards. • Identifying a failed -5V rail caused by out-of-spec electrolytic capacitors. • Troubleshooting a "washed out" video signal by isolating a faulty LM1889N chip. Along the way, I perform composite mods, tune the video output using an oscilloscope, and discuss the "harsh reality" of repair economics regarding recapping for resale.
