The first SUV - Matchbox 37G Matra Rancho Custom Diecast Restoration

*First of all, I dedicate this video to the memory of Martin Dare from ‘Martin Dare’s Dinky Restorations’, who sadly passed away last Sunday. Martin was a staple in the diecast restorers community and one of the people who inspired me to start my own Youtube channel. He also commented regularly on my video’s. His passing leaves a hole in the diecast restorers community and he will be sorely missed. All my sympathy goes out to Martin’s family and to everyone who knew him personally.* This week we have the Matra Rancho on the workbench. A very peculiar car, designed by French race car manufacturer Matra in co-operation with Chrysler-Simca. With its fiberglass rear body, its underpowered engine and front wheel drive, it could be considered the very first SUV. Totally unfit for muddy roads, but well-suited to transport the kids and their friends to soccer practice. Let’s give this model a more realistic makeover and detailing!
