Low Budget / No Budget 3D Scanning by Richard Garsthagen
Imagine turning anything—from tiny things to massive landmarks—into a 3D objects you can use in your games, 3D-print as miniatures, or explore in VR. This session will show you how accessible 3D scanning has become. We’ll explore multiple approaches: using nothing but your phone, low-cost handheld scanners, or use no equipment at all!! Along the way, Richard will share lessons learned from building a massive 120-Raspberry Pi scanning rig over a decade ago, running a 3D scanning studio, and keeping up with the fast-moving world of scanning technology. You’ll leave with practical tips, see and some demos to start capturing the world around you in 3D—no budget required. Also Richard will be present as on the Maker Market all day if you want to talk to him about 3D Scanning (or any other cool technology)
