Welcome to Day 24—Christmas Eve. We have reached the finale of the 2025 Jazz Advent Calendar. To close this journey, I’m playing the minor-key carol "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen." It is a song that promises "tidings of comfort and joy." But as we gather with our families, we must acknowledge that for the people of Palestine, comfort is a distant memory and joy has been stolen by violence. I am dedicating this final performance to the Hind Rajab Foundation. The lyrics tell us to "let nothing you dismay," but it is impossible not to be dismayed by the atrocities we are witnessing.
