Welcome to Day 23 of the 2025 Jazz Advent Calendar. We are nearly at the end of our journey. Today, I’m playing "O Christmas Tree" (O Tannenbaum). This song celebrates a tree that remains green and constant, even in the depths of winter. It is a powerful symbol of resilience. In Palestine, the olive tree represents that same deep-rooted resilience, yet today both the land and its people face existential threats. I am dedicating Day 23 to the Hind Rajab Foundation. Just as the song honors something that endures, this foundation fights for the survival of a people rooted in their land. They are working to halt the uprooting of lives and the destruction of heritage by prosecuting the crimes committed by Israel. They are using the law to protect the right to exist.
