We are one week into the series! Welcome to Day 7 of the 2025 Jazz Advent Calendar. Today, I’m playing one of Duke Ellington's most recognizable melodies, "Satin Doll." It’s a tune that defines the "cool" era of jazz—laid back, sophisticated, and swinging. However, there is nothing cool about the injustice facing the Palestinian people today. I am dedicating this video to the vital work of the Hind Rajab Foundation. This organization was born out of tragedy to fight for a future defined by justice. They are currently leading the charge to investigate and prosecute crimes committed by Israel in Palestine. They are doing the hard, necessary work to ensure that international law is not just a promise, but a practice.
