Casio fx-270W scientific calculator (1999), failed attempted repair

A look at a neat semi-vintage calculator, and a failed attempted repair of a borked display. I forgot that the fx-991 series was also sold in the US as the fx-115. I looked on eBay again, and it turns out there are lots of fx-115W calculators for reasonable prices. :) I'll probably get one sometime.
