radio scanner battery upgrade

As I was digging through my storage, I came across my old radio scanner ( a Uniden Bearcat bc2500xlt, to be specific) and discovered that the rechargeable battery pack was no longer doing it's job. Today I explore my options and rebuild the battery pack using various things I have lying around my shop.
