Typing Success - Takoma Park
This video shows the typing speed of a sixth grade student, JW, in Takoma Park, Maryland. This student was taken a donated computer, with a free touch typing tutor, when she was in 3rd grade -- shortly after she arrived in the United States from Africa. Through determined practice, she now types comfortable in the 50 to 70 words per minute range. Her elementary school measured her at 70 words per minute a few months ago. I asked this student if she had any touch typing practice before she came to the United States. Her answer: "Not much." This student is interested in writing books for a living. I can't wait to read her first book. The video was shot using a Flip camcorder. (Thanks, Jay Keller!)
