I create portrait art that combines drawing and knitting with digital tools. Hi my name is Faith Humphrey Hill and I’m a full time artist located in Oak Park, IL. My artwork provides an optimistic view of technologies role in shaping our identity and relationships with each other. The piece Mobispect on exhibit at the Beverly Art Center embraces these themes. I’ve presented a knit animation featuring rotating faces. They are separate people but are connected by the everflowing yarn between them. The animation is exhibited as one long knitted film strip beside an immersive exhibition space where the animation can be seen. My work often deals with themes of connection between people. Making the Connect Residency a perfect fit for my practice. The most valuable part of the experience was the opportunity to learn from the guest speakers, the Fellows, Hollie Davis, and the other participating artists.
