I spent ages working in oils before drawing digitally. I was taught to paint in a direct almost impasto technique. Where you do most of the color mixing on the palette then apply it with heavy strokes. It’s a pretty technique and I like the work by others who do it this way but it never felt right to me. I struggled with mixing the right colors that my eyes saw. When I look at something I see layers and layers of colors. Working with procreate gave me the freedom to experiment with color and that really helped me develop my style.
