PC-8801 Floppies A few months back we made our video on the rather wonderful NEC PC-8801MC and mentioned that we used serial to write floppies. Several of you asked about our method of doing it, so here it is. Download XDISKWIN2: https://www.re-enthused.com/files/PC8801/XDISKWIN2.zip What you need: 1 - A PC88 computer with working disk drive 2 - A copy of N88 BASIC, Disk version 3 - A computer capable of running Windows XP era software and a serial port 4 - A loop-back serial cable (twisted pair, null modem). Your PC88 *probably* has a 25 pin port and your more modern PC *probably* has a 9 pin port, so you'll need to be able to support that. Here's the link to the adaptor I used: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000DZH4V0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 5 - PC88 disk images in D88 format 6 - Compatible 5.25" floppy disks (normal HD will work, but can be sketchy, especially if pre-formatted) 7 - The XDISKWIN2 software Please Subscribe for more videos Join the
