It’s so important as artists that we allow our selves to explore art with curiosity and freedom. Sometimes we get the urge to create outside the zone we’re known for or we’ve come to identify ourselves as. Early in my journey it was hard for me accept that I enjoyed knitting. Every-time I sat down to knit a sweater or socks I’d feel guilty for not working on the portrait drawings I was destined to make as an artist. However it totally worked out for me because feeding the urge to knit lead to new connections and ideas. And eventually mixed media art was the result. I do a bit of mediating in the morning and recently reflecting on a session about creativity it became clear that if we keep doing the exact same thing every time our brains just network through the same mental highways. They start to be routine. Every once in a while it’s good to hop off and explore a new area and further build out our mental map. So with that I present to you a drawing of a squirrel.
