08 The Segregation of West Moberly First Nation
With already two dams and thousands of gas wells, the territory around West Moberly Lake is no longer available for traditional activities. First Nations can no longer practice their culture and are living in a new form of segregation. Watch more videos from Upstream. About the project: Following the route of the proposed gas pipelines from northeastern British Columbia to the Pacific coast, along almost 1,000 km from the Peace River Valley to Lelu Island, First Nations and settlers are opposing new developments (MAP), and are finding new ways to fight for the land and the future. Opposition forms are different and change according to the local situation, but in every camp, in every group, in every occupation of the land, there is one common understanding: respect for nature and aboriginal rights, in search of a sustainable future. In 2016, we spent four months along this βcorridor of resistanceβ and found a lot of inspiration. by Paola RosΓ and Antonio Senter www.rosasenter.weebly
