Chilling Realities, Beggaring Belief In 'Compliance'

Craig Zobel's new film is "inspired by true events," even if the extremes of human behavior it depicts can seem like exaggerations. Compliance allows the audience an omniscient perspective on an unconscionable hoax — and in doing so, it may offer a bit too much distance from the characters.
