From GNU Emacs to code.gouv.fr

LibrePlanet 2022 videos This talk is titled "From GNU Emacs to code.gouv.fr," and was presented at LibrePlanet 2022 by Bastien Guerry. Bastien is the free software officer for the French public administration. With a background in philosophy and cognitive sciences, he became interested in the free software movement in the late 90's and taught himself how to program by contributing to GNU Emacs. He has been involved with, among other things, One Laptop Per Child and Wikimedia France. This talk is about Bastien's own history and motivations as a free software hacktivist, and what progressively led him to dedicate more time and energy to support free software in the public sector, as well as provide a few practical tips on how everyone may do so in everyday life.
