Shit for Future: turning human shit into a climate solution

Humanity has already crossed the point where simply reducing emissions will no longer be enough to keep global warming below 2°C. According to the IPCC (AR6, WGIII), it is now essential to actively remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere in order to meet global climate targets, maintain net-zero (or even net-negative emissions), and address the burden of historical emissions. At the same time, degraded soils and the climate crisis are a threat to global food security. Two years ago, I presented an overview of different methods available for carbon dioxide removal. Today, I want to show you an example of how CO₂ can be removed from the atmosphere while simultaneously improving the lives of local communities: Human shit.
