Getting past Ed
When Ed leaves his room (for instance, when you ring the doorbell), he enters a new screen every 5 seconds until he makes it to his destination. If you enter the screen where he is, or he enters the screen where you are, he'll spot you and will try to catch you. If he catches you, he'll lock you in the dungeon. If he doesn't catch you, he'll spawn on the top floor corridor 15 seconds later, and then he'll go back to his room. However, if you leave a screen one or two frames after he's entered it, using the same exit he's using to enter the screen, he won't catch you. You'll get past him and, if you're fast, you'll be able to get to his room before he's back.
