Getting past Edna (in the original version, a.k.a. V1)

In V1, you can't enable snap scroll. However, you can open the "new kid" menu the moment Edna spots you. If you do so, Edna won't follow you but will go to the place you were when she spots you. So, while the "new kid" menu is open, get to the door. Then, close the "new kid" menu (by selecting the character you're already using), and quickly open the door and leave. The timing is tricky (personally, I mess up more often than not), but if done right it's possible to get past Edna without slowing down at all.
