Using the plank and the oar

Effectively using the plank and the oar is very tricky because, in the current route we use to speedrun the game, you have to scroll the inventory several times. Not to mention that you can accidentally break the oar too early if you fail to pick up the plank without stepping on the oar. Or that you can softlock the game if you press Backspace when Guybrush steps on the oar and before the oar breaks. Here's what I currently do: 1. While Guybrush is walking to the plank, scroll the inventory to the bottom, making sure the last item becomes the current item. You can repeatedly press or hold the down arrow key to do so. 2. After picking up the plank, open the inventory, press the right arrow key, press Enter to select the plank, close the inventory, and click on the hole. 3. Open the inventory, scroll until the oar becomes visible, click on the oar, close the inventory, and click on the hole. 4. Pick up the plank and then pick up the oar. 5.
