One of the most annoying things in this game is that the cursor recenters itself after you move to a new screen. There's a trick to keep it in place, though: hold the right-click on an object while Guybrush enters the next room. As fas as I know, this only works with the new graphics because when playing with the classic graphics you don't get a menu when right-clicking on an object.
