Selecting the second rope when using it

It's very hard to get the second rope ready to use before you have to use it. If you haven't been able to do so, you can still use it with the keyboard by pressing U (to use) clicking on the sturdy stump, opening the inventory, pressing the right arrow key (so the second rope gets the yellow box) and then pressing Enter.
