USB4: What the IT Professional needs to know

USB4 is a significant evolutionary advancement in the USB standards and will impact the IT workspace and technology you will purchase in the future. USB4 will have data throughput between 20Gbps -40Gbps with support for protocol tunneling of PCIe and DisplayPort via the USB4 fabric. Approved cables using the new USB-C type 2.1 connector will enjoy power levels of up to 240 watts. USB4 will use only the USB-C connector and cables will have to be carefully chosen to obtain the standard power and speeds available. USB4 will support Alternate Mode for Thunderbolt 3.
