What is Software Defined Networking: SDN?
SDN brings many paradigm shifts to managing complex networks. 1. Moving to application APIs vs Command Line configuration of Layer 3 switches, routers, firewalls, and other network equipment. 2. SDN allows configurations of switches to be done at speeds needed to meet data center tenants' demands (example: updates/msec). 3. SDN moves networking from propriety hardware and operating systems to white box switches, routers, and other network equipment using open-source operating systems. 4. SDN provides a powerful platform for creating, managing, and terminating virtual networks. Data Centers are the major drivers of SDN but mobile carriers, broadband providers, optical transport networks and IoT environments are all doing their part to develop SDN for their needs Please consider becoming a channel member: β’ you get an early viewing of all our video content β’ access to the complete series of videos for each subject β’ links to video notes and PowerPoint slide deck both in MS-
