Drink driver caught on his own dashcam smashing into a scooter rider

A driver who was nearly three times over the limit when he smashed into a scooter rider from behind has avoided prison.Craig Churches, was caught on his own dashcam accelerating towards a red light and knocking a learner rider off his bike.The rider was seriously injured in the crash in December 2024 and is still recovering more than a year later.Footage from Churches' dashcam showed the 33-year-old driving on the A4 Bath Road while listening to music.He accelerated towards a junction where vehicles ahead were slowing down because of a red light.Churches continues to accelerate towards the traffic lights, passing two drivers on the lane beside him and failing to react to break lights from a car and scooter ahead of him.He finally appears to hit the breaks just a few feet away from the biker and comes crashing into him from behind.
