International leaders condemn Donald Trump's Greenland tariff threat

International leaders including Canadian PM Mark Carney, Italian PM Giorgia Melioni, President of the European Counclil Antonio Costa have condemned the decision of Donald Trump of imposing sanctions to countries that support Greenland's sovereignty. A joint statement from Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Swedenand the UK said they stood 'firmly behind' the 'principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity'. The US president has shocked the NATO by warning that opponents of an American takeover of the Danish territory will be hit with punitive tariffs from February 1, 2026.
