Pensioner woman killed by Volvo in dangerous driving incident

A 79-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a car, with the driver arrested for causing death by dangerous driving. The female pedestrian was run over on Bury New Road in Prestwich, outside Manchester, by a Volvo S90. The driver of the Volvo, a man in his 40s, was arrested and remains in custody after being questioned overnight, Greater Manchester Policetoday said. The silver car could be seen with serious front end damage within the cordon. Ambulances attended the crash but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
