Man convicted for killing student was 'framed by police, new evidence suggests

A man who has spent 23 years in prison for fatally stabbing a student on her way home from a nightclub could have been framed by police, according to new evidence. Omar Benguit was convicted of murdering Korean student Jong-Ok Shin in 2005, three years after she died of stab wounds to the back on Malemsbury Park Road, Bournemouth. The conviction was based largely on the testimonies of more than a dozen witnesses due to a lack of CCTV footage or forensic evidence, with two initial juries failing to reach a verdict. However now, a total of 13 witnesses have told the BBC that the police pressured them to embellish their statements and lie in court.
