City lawyer's wife scuffles during row over plans to transform £850,000 home

Neighbours have backed a fellow resident facing imprisonment after he thwarted a city lawyer's plan to transform a quiet cul-de-sac into a busy HGV cut-through.Business consultant Robin Christie, 65, stopped the unlawful proposals in Richmond-upon-Thames from going ahead - put forward by Samuel Tempest Brooks, 44, and his wife Julia Stafford, 44.The high-flying couple had spent £850,000 on a detached property in the Hampton Village Conservation Area which they had obtained permission to radically extend.However, Mr Brooks and Ms Stafford had failed to secure local authority permission to demolish a boundary wall to create a gated entrance on their site - nevertheless, they began knocking it down anyway.
