What do we know about the 'invasive' meningitis outbreak that killed two young people in Kent? The UK Health Security Agency warned over 30,000 students and staff in the area to stay vigilant against symptoms of the disease. The 'invasive' outbreak is thought to be connected to Club Chemistry, a nightclub event popular with students. Two young people, a grammar school girl and a university student were killed by the infection and eleven more a seriously ill in hospital. Meningitis is an inflammation of membranes that protect the brain and spinal cord. Anyone can be affected, but children under five, 15 to 24 year olds, and those over 45 are at-risk.
