Territorial Army corporal battered girlfriend's young son to death

A former Territorial Army corporal has been convicted of battering his girlfriend's young son to death after texting her to say 'slap him back to sleep lol'.Scott O'Connor, 36, assaulted two-year-old Kol Page after meeting his mother, Zoe Coutts, 35, on the dating app Bumble .Kol was left severely brain damaged after the savage beating in April 2022 and died two years later.O'Connor, of southeast London , and Coutts, of Kent, were both accused of inflicting 'catastrophic' injuries on Kol and concocting a 'tissue of lies' to avoid responsibility.They both denied murder and were cleared of the charge at Southwark Crown Court.O'Connor was convicted of the alternative lesser charge of manslaughter while Coutts was found guilty of allowing the death of a child, after 10 hours and 45 minutes of deliberations by a jury.
