Council leader reported to police over 'antisemitic' video

The leader of a Labour council was reported to the police on Thursday over an 'antisemitic' video posted to his social media. Gavin Callaghan, leader of Basildon Borough Council, made a humiliating apology over the video he posted to his official Facebook page. The video, branded 'Back Basildon Stop Reform', was set to the tune of Michael Jackson's 'They Don't Care About Us', and labelled with the Basildon Labour logo. Jackson ended up re-recording the song 30 years ago when he drew criticism for the lyrics.
