Detective who was held back by police after outburst is struck off

A senior detective responsible for domestic violence cases has been struck off after being held back by police after a foul-mouthed outburst following a boozy bottomless brunch. Detective Inspector Mark Portelli was found guilty of gross misconduct for the way he behaved during the drunken incident in Dorset. The officer had consumed several cocktails and glasses of prosecco at a bottomless brunch event before going to the nightclub. He was kicked out of the nightclub for an alleged assault inside the venue and then arrested outside by colleagues from Dorset Police during the early hours of March 31, 2024.
