Pope's veiled dig at Trump with attack on 'tyrants spending billions on killing'

Pope Leo blasted leaders who spend billions on wars and said the world was 'being ravaged by a handful of tyrants,' in unusually forceful remarks in Cameroon on Thursday after US President Donald Trump attacked him again on social media.Leo, the first US Pope, also decried leaders who used religious language to justify wars and urged a 'decisive change of course' in a meeting in the biggest city in Cameroon's English-speaking regions, where a simmering conflict has left thousands dead.He condemned 'an endless cycle of destabilisation and death' on his visit to a 'bloodstained' region of the country that has been gripped by an English-speaking separatist insurgency for nearly a decade.'Those who rob your land of its resources generally invest much of the profit in weapons, thus perpetuating an endless cycle of destabilisation and death,' the pontiff said in a speech in a cathedral in the northwestern city of Bamenda, the centre of the insurgency.
