Robot plays ping pong with elite players and wins three out of five matches
Kung–fu , half marathons and now ping pong – is there anything robots can't do? An AI robot called Ace has pulled off wins against three elite table tennis players. Developed by Sony AI, the robot is fully autonomous, and uses a complex array of vision sensors, control systems and high–speed hardware to respond in real–time. Incredible footage shows the bot winning three out of five matches against elite players – showing off sophisticated moves including unusual spins and bouncing balls off the net. However, the bot isn't ready for the big league just yet, losing both matches against Minami Ando and Kakeru Sone, who are both active in the Japanese professional league.
