Teacher accused of baby sex abuse and murder quizzed by police

Secondary school teacher Jamie Varley, 37, was seen in a police interview in June 2025 in a tense exchange about how 13-month old Preston Davey had died. The infant had been in the care of Varley and his partner John McGowan-Fazakerley, 32, for four months before Preston was rushed to hospital and could not be resuscitated.They are both on trial over various charges related to the treatment and death of the baby boy. They deny all charges against them at Preston Crown Court. In the police interview Varley said he would 'fight police till the day I die' after they accused him of murder.
