Ferrari's first EV is ruthlessly mocked and condemned by former boss
Ferrari's first fully electric vehicle has been mocked by the luxury sports car maker's former boss after being called 'straight to the junkyard trash'. The new £474,320 Ferrari Luce is also the Italian brand's first ever five-seater, designed in collaboration with the LoveFrom agency founded by former Apple design chief Sir Jony Ive. A far cry from the sleek, classic Ferrari known among car and Formula One racing fans, the Luce's saloon-like design immediately proved divisive.Responses on social media to the launch described it as 'straight to the junkyard trash' while the firm's shares fell more than eight per cent on the Milan stock market and by over five per cent in New York on Tuesday. Ferrari chief executive Benedetto Vigna said in Rome that the Luce, Italian for 'light', has taken half a decade to develop, despite supercar rivals like Lamborghini and Porsche having scaled back on EV plans due to low demand and Chinese competition.
