Edinburgh and its surroundings covered in snow amid cold snap

Cold weather health alerts have been issued for all of England before a week of low temperatures. Amber alerts have been issued from 12 pm on Thursday until January 8, meaning further periods of heavy snowfall are expected over the weekend.
