Peruvians embrace Pope Leo as one of their own with celebration mass

Catholics in Peru gathered outside the Cathedral of Santa Maria in Chiclayo to celebrate Pope Leo XIV, who served as bishop in the town until 2023. The new pope was born in Chicago, but spent decades living in Peru and became a citizen in 2015.
