2018: Brightline president defends train's safety during Oversight hearing

Brightline President Patrick Goddard defended the Florida train's safety during an Oversight hearing back in April 2018. Goddard stated that the only times lives were lost due to the Brightline was when someone was on a substance or intentionally chose to end their life. The hearing is back in the news due to an explosive Miami Herald investigation that revealed over 180 deaths have occurred due to the Brightline in the past seven years.
